Jupiter

Jupiter, known as Guru or Brihaspati, is the Guru of the Gods and is also called Devguru. It is written in Shani Mahatmya about Jupiter:

“Beyond the knowledge of Guru, he is compassionate like a devotee. The curry of deeds. The disease of suffering and poverty is healed, memories are broken. Mahayoga in Navagraha is known. That is why Guru seva (service) is performed. Then what about the planets? Guru is revered in all forms. By him, happiness is bestowed upon all planets.”

Shani Dev himself acknowledged that Guru is the best of all. Guru is the Mauli (chief), the shadow of eternal grace. Guru is considered a very holy and auspicious planet. If Guru is auspicious, then no problems arise.

Guru has three aspects: Pancham (5th house), Saptham (7th house), and Ninth (9th house). In the horoscope, the Fifth House represents education, romance, and progeny. The Seventh House represents marital partnerships, and the Ninth House is the house of fortune. Auspicious results are obtained when Guru’s Amrit Drishti (beneficial aspect) falls on these houses.

Jupiter stays in a sign for about 13 months. It is exalted in Cancer and debilitated in Capricorn.

Guru symbolizes the scholar, moral teacher, professor, guide, saint, and religious master. If Guru is strong in a person’s chart, the individual is generous, charitable, and virtuous, and is often referred to as a Daanveer (one who is charitable) and Dharmveer (one who upholds dharma).

If Jupiter is strong, it brings health and cures sickness. A good Jupiter can also free a person from debt. It can bring success in acquiring a job, promotion, honor, and fame. Religious pilgrimages and ceremonies at home are also seen in the presence of a well-placed Jupiter.

When the Moon and Jupiter are in conjunction in the Kendra position (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th house), it forms Gajkesari Yoga, which is considered highly auspicious.

Due to the influence of Guru, a person attains both spiritual wisdom and material happiness.

The Mahadasha (major period) of Guru lasts for 16 years and typically brings many auspicious results. However, the actual results depend on the alignment with other planets in the horoscope, their positions, and the signs they occupy.
